University of Galway | BSc (Hons) Computer Science & Information Technology

University of Galway Computer Science & Information Technology student with software engineering internship experience at Ericsson. Developed CI/CD tooling with Python, Jenkins/Groovy, and Spinnaker; improved build, testing, packaging, and deployment workflows for cloud-native services; and delivered responsive client websites and automation-focused personal projects.

Internships

Software Engineering Intern

Ericsson, Athlone, Co. Westmeath | January 2026–August 2026

  • Developed and maintained Jenkins/Groovy pipeline stages and Spinnaker configurations for build, deployment, testing, and cleanup workflows; parameterised pipelines for configurable behaviour.
  • Independently decomposed a monolithic 2,000+ line Python CI module into 14 modular executor-specific files, with shared functionality and runtime configuration to reduce duplication.
  • Built packaging-verification stages and strengthened Artifactory/Nexus checks to identify undeclared binary content before release, supported by unit tests.
  • Diagnosed CI/CD and cloud-native infrastructure issues across Kubernetes, Docker, Helm/Helmfile, and pipeline integrations; documented findings and coordinated fixes with other teams.

Web Development Intern

Ossark, Athlone, Co. Westmeath | May 2025–August 2025

  • Collaborated on full-stack website projects through implementation, QA, and release, communicating progress and incorporating feedback to help ensure changes were ready for client use.
  • Turned client and team feedback into practical page improvements, refining layouts and responsive behaviour while maintaining visual consistency across desktop and mobile.
  • Diagnosed and resolved frontend issues across existing sites, checking responsive behaviour and improving usability without disrupting established pages.
  • Delivered responsive, accessible PHP and SCSS updates for client websites.

Selected client sites: Kerry International Film Festival, MCL Electrical, Anushka Power Therapy, and Daily Irish Produce.

Multi-Broker Paper Trading Platform · Personal project

Developed a Python platform for researching, testing, and operating rules-based trading strategies across FX, CFDs, and US equities.

  • Built separate strategy, execution, risk, market-data, journaling, and dashboard components to keep the system testable and maintainable.
  • Integrated paper/demo workflows for IG FX, Capital.com CFDs, and Alpaca equities, including fully simulated and live-price, simulated-execution modes.
  • Recorded signals, orders, and account snapshots in SQLite; produced dashboards and run artifacts for reviewing execution and strategy behaviour.
  • Added risk-aware controls, broker smoke checks, automated test coverage, and operational tooling for repeatable paper sessions.

Unity Racing Game · University Games Programming module

Developed a Unity/C# racing game with race and hot-lap modes, configurable lap counts, timers, and game-state UI.

  • Implemented a persistent top-10 lap-time leaderboard, storing and sorting player records in CSV through Unity's persistent storage.
  • Built three NavMesh-driven AI opponents using a 200+ node race path persisted as JSON, with corner-aware speed and turning adjustments.
  • Added checkpoint-gated lap validation, respawn and reset flows, and Blender-based track customisation.
